St. Joseph’s Church, located in the beautiful island of Phuket in Thailand, is getting ready to celebrate the most important week in the Christian calendar: Holy Week. From Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday, this church invites all believers and visitors to participate in its services, which will be held with great reverence and devotion.
On April 2, Palm Sunday will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church with two masses at 9AM and 11AM. This day commemorates Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem, where the people welcomed Him with palm branches and praises. The liturgy includes the blessing of palms and the reading of the Gospel narrative of Jesus’ entry into the city.
On Holy Thursday, April 6, at 6:30 PM, the church will hold a solemn mass to commemorate the Last Supper, where Jesus washed the feet of His disciples and instituted the Holy Eucharist. This mass is a reminder of Jesus’ humility and love for His followers.
Good Friday, on April 7 at 6:30 PM, is a day of fasting and penance, where the church commemorates Jesus’ passion, death, and burial. The liturgy includes the reading of the Passion narrative, the Veneration of the Cross, and the Holy Communion.
On Easter Vigil, on April 8 at 6:30 PM, the church celebrates the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. This service begins with the lighting of the Easter fire, the blessing of the Paschal candle, and the reading of the Old Testament prophecies. It culminates with the joyful proclamation of the Resurrection and the Holy Eucharist.
Finally, on Easter Sunday, April 9, St. Joseph’s Church will hold two masses at 9AM and 11AM to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus. This is the most important day of the Christian calendar, where the church rejoices in the victory of life over death, and hope over despair.
St. Joseph’s Church invites everyone to participate in its Holy Week services with reverence and devotion, whether you are a resident of Phuket or a visitor to the island. May this week be a time of prayer, reflection, and renewal of faith for all.
